Corporate social responsibility at Croud

We are proud to announce that, for a second year in a row, Croud has received a silver rating from EcoVadis

The EcoVadis Rating covers a broad range of areas, including Environmental, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement impacts. Each company is rated on the material issues as they pertain to their company's size, location and industry. This means that according to the EcoVadis sustainability recognition levels, which is based upon the percentile ranking of a company's EcoVadis score, Croud sits within approximately the top 25% of businesses when it comes to sustainability.

Croud cares

At Croud, we believe that it is both the big and small changes that can help make a difference. We care about our environment, our people, and about giving back to our community. 

Through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Croud has been recognised across the industry and beyond for being a great place to work and an award-winning employer. Over the years, our company culture has been awarded Best Employer for Remote employees at Digiday’s Worklife Awards, Employer of the Year at the Growing Business Awards, and has been recognised in Campaign’s Best Places to Work list.

Sustainable practices

From computer hardware to coffee beans, we always aim to recycle as much as we can. All of our offices are paperless, and we only use energy-efficient lighting. We are also committed to partnering with sustainable and local producers, and have removed plastic from our supply chains where possible. 

Employee wellbeing

Croud is home to over 250 talented, hardworking digital specialists who live at the heart of the business. Not only do they service our clients with fantastic work, but they are also responsible for the incredible company culture we have here at Croud. To this end, Croud has always put our employees’ wellbeing first, always aiming to grow existing and build new initiatives that further enhance our team’s work experience. 

Senior management has aimed to curate a work culture that offers transparency and open communication. Our co-founders hold monthly All Hands meetings that allow staff to engage in open dialogue with our operational board, encouraging staff to convey any concerns or questions that come to mind. Croud also regularly conducts a wide range of internal surveys to help collect employee feedback to learn of areas of improvement across the business.

We also understand that employees may sometimes want to talk to people outside of our organisation. Thus, we’ve launched an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which provides Croud employees with 24/7/365 access to anonymous and on-demand mental health support from trained practitioners using a confidential helpline, and have also provided employees with access to online resource hubs to support their wellbeing. In addition to this, we've introduced a global healthcare scheme within Croud’s employee benefits.

We’ve also implemented flexible working hours and have shifted towards a hybrid working model, allowing employees more freedom to work beyond the typical hours of 9am to 5pm. These initiatives only encompass a fraction of the ways Croud prioritises and supports their employees. Explore our employee handbook to learn more.

Giving back to our communities

We’re always looking for fun, creative ways to support a variety of charitable organisations. You name it, someone at Croud has probably done it for charity. From running up buildings, cycling from London to Amsterdam and the Three Peaks challenge, to virtual bingo, fancy dress, and many, many bake sales – we are always ready for our next charity challenge or activity. 

Despite the challenges of these past two years, our global teams have continued to give back, focusing on organisations and causes that are important to our team members. This includes organisations like No Kid Hungry, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Equal Justice Initiative and Sydney Community services, to name a few.

To further foster a culture of charitable giving, Croud also launched its Day to Make a Difference scheme in January 2021. Under this scheme, all Croud employees can select a charity they’d like to support and spend one working day each year volunteering with their chosen charity or organisation. 

Charitable partnerships

At Croud, we have also carried out pro bono work for several charities across the globe, including cancer charity Ellie’s Friends and Exhale to Inhale, a non-profit that runs yoga sessions for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

In 2021, Croud’s technology division, Serpico by Croud, also partnered with Salesforce to run a round-the-world challenge for the digital reading charity, Worldreader. Through this partnership, we helped raise over £16,000 for Worldreader’s Read to Kids program in India.

Along with these charitable initiatives, Croud also hosts regular digital marketing training sessions for charities in partnership with the East London Business Alliance. If you’re a charity in need of some digital support or advice, get in touch.

Looking towards the future

Whilst we are delighted with achieving this certificate, we still have continued plans to further improve each area. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) assessment is a major part of our agenda for 2022, notably in measuring and reporting on our environmental footprint and sustainable procurement.
