My introduction to Croud was perhaps a bit more unconventional than most Croudies’.
In 2015, I was working in digital marketing at a financial services organisation in Glasgow – and we had decided to look for a new digital agency to take on our SEO and PPC accounts.
Croud were among a number of London agencies that came recommended and so myself and my then marketing manager went down to London to meet about five different agencies over the course of two days in a whistle-stop tour of the capital.
When we met Croud, we immediately knew that they were something special and that they were the agency for us. We met Neil and Clark in person and their know-how, energy, and character shone through. They really made us laugh too!
As things panned out, I got another job offer and was starting in the new year, but before leaving, Croud were appointed as our new PPC and SEO agency for 2016. So I had a word with some of the guys on the Croud account to see if my financial sector experience could be put to use working as a Croudie.
As it turns out, they were indeed looking for financial services copy-writers – so I got a gig!
I always remember reading a quote in a marketing book once – ‘Don’t be afraid to work with the best’ (it’s from a book written by Paul Arden called ‘It’s Not How Good You Are – It’s How Good You Want To Be). Anyway, this is one of the key benefits of working with Croud – I know they’re among the best and most innovative digital agencies in the world.
They have great connections with Google, their staff are brilliantly talented – and some are even revered throughout the industry as leading commentators.
And on a day to day basis, it’s the little things that make it go smoothly.
The guys are always personable and treat you with the utmost respect and are super-appreciative of your work. Using Croud Control is extremely smooth too, the deadlines are always reasonable and achievable and the rates are very competitive.
I’ve previously combined my Croudie work with my day job, however, I’m now thinking of branching out into being a freelancer (it’s always been an ambition) and being a Croudie is a big part of that for me.
Who knows where it will lead – but it has been great working as a Croudie this year – and seeing my writing appear on some leading financial and fintech websites including Boost Capital, Capitalise, Workiva and the Hiscox US site has been a thrill (and great for my CV!).
