So we all heard about it in the news last week. The social media mother-ship that is Facebook, brought communications platform Whatsapp for a staggering $19 billion (£11 billion). Before this Facebook’s largest purchase was of Snapchat for a measly $3 billion. So the social giants are clearly visualising Whatsapp to be a potential game changer in their future plans.
Having been turned down twice before by other brands, Whatsapp founder co-founder Jan Koum said he was ‘excited and honoured’ to be forming a partnership between Facebook and his Whatsapp team of 50.
