[/vc_raw_html][text_output]14 million viewers tuned in to see mum of three Nadiyah Hussain crowned the 2015 Winner of The Great British Bake Off last night. Croud Shrewsbury have joined the rest of the nation and entered into the bake off spirit with all members of staff arriving at work today cradling their baked goods for the first Croud Great Shrewsbury Bake Off in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.Macmillan

To up the ante local business owners were invited to be on the judging panel: Amy and Brian from Drink Up, Chantal from Lemon Box Bakery and Sarah from Shropshire’s Own. Each judge is an expert baker that takes pride in using quality ingredients which resulted in each member of the Shrewsbury office upping their game. Competition amongst the team is fierce as pride is at stake!

At 9.30am judging commenced with keen eyes on the look-out for soggy bottoms, an even bake and divine taste. The multi-cultural environment of Croud was certainly on display in cake form; a Russian cake, Swedish cinnamon buns, a Chinese Coconut Dessert and the British Victoria Sponge.

The results are in and the team eagerly gathered to find out who would be crowned the winner and lift the Bake Off cup. Category winners were announced first:

Cookies & Biscuits – Milk Chocolate and Cranberry cookies baked by Jed Brookes-Lewis

Tray Bakes – Millionaire shortbread baked by Adam Rose

Cupcakes & Muffins – Raspberry muffins baked by Vikki Peirson

Large Cakes – Chocolate Guinness cake with Bailey’s icing baked by Ellie Ball

Unusual Bakes – Cheese and wholegrain mustard sausage rolls baked by Martin Reed

The honour of being awarded Star Baker was given to Martin Reed and the judges’ praise for his sausage rolls was high indeed, with Sarah from Shropshire’s Own stating she would be happy to sell those in her shop.

Tension was mounting, who would win the accolade of Croud’s first Bake Off Champion???

Drum roll please (cue many hands bashing on legs) and the winner for the first annual Croud Great Shrewsbury Bake Off is…  Adam Rose with his Millionaire Shortbread!!!
