As part of Social Media Week, Croud attended a session on LinkedIn Company Pages to find out what the latest update from the professional social network means for businesses.
Over the past year LinkedIn has been introducing important updates to the network and there are now many more opportunities to create a community for your business using the tool. This is great for businesses who are perhaps aimed at the B2B market, or who are looking for an alternative social network to Facebook.
The most important changes are that you can now post regular updates to your Company Page, target who sees these updates and start to build a personality for your business through these updates. You can also fill out a lot more information about your company including a full overview, products and services and recommendations from customers.
Below we have highlighted the most important changes which we would recommend utilising as soon as possible:
Regular Updates to Company Pages:
You can now post regular company updates to your LinkedIn Company Page, which get pushed out to the followers of your Page. This allows companies to keep an active presence in LinkedIn as opposed to a static presence. Companies are recommended to update with industry news, company success stories, events or job opportunities to name a few.
These updates can now be targeted to certain followers on your Page. You can now determine information such as Location, Job Function, Industry etc. This could be perfect if you were recruiting or holding an event for graduates, or perhaps more senior level staff. You could also use it to target updates about events happening in the North of the UK to those based in the North. Lots of opportunity here!
Add External Admins to your Page:
You can now (at last) add external admins to your Page, which means you can hire external help to manage your LinkedIn presence. Previously, you had to have a company domain email address to be able to gain admin access.
Products and Services:
Although the Products and Services pages aren’t new, you can now target each product or service to specific audiences based on the same targeting options as status updates. This means if you have a product available in one country, but it is a slightly different offering in another you can target the description to those separate audiences.
