Apple’s iPad has been available in the UK for over a year now, but Facebook have just released their official iPad application.
The new iPad app, which Facebook said offers a more “fun, colourful” way to use the social network, is available in the Apple app store for free.
The app has been described as being more “immersive” than Facebook’s offerings and highlights the use of multitouch gestures such as swiping your fingers to page through picture albums and pinching pictures to zoom in.
As in Facebook’s recent updates to its website, such as Timeline, photos and videos are given increased prominence in the app, along with games and chat features.
When users then want to access other apps that are built on Facebook’s platform, such as games, they will be directed back to the Apple app store.
Here in the Croud offices, we have two apple users and one iPad owner.
We have asked Gail, our Director of Product and Marketing at Croud, to download the app and let us know her thoughts. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Facebook Mobile app.
