So after a couple of months of emailing, the day finally came and I was ready to meet the Croud team. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the lovely Angela and I immediately knew that I had nothing to be nervous about because everyone was so welcoming and lovely.

After sitting in on the Monday morning meeting with the SEO team, who all know SEO like the backs of their hands, I realised that this was not the type of thing you learn in school, it’s a lot more complex and I had a lot of learning to do. Despite doing previous research I was still amazed by the range of different clients they have, that they all work so closely with e.g. Netflix and T.M.Lewin, and how much they could achieve for each client in just a 4 day week. The meeting was baffling but extremely interesting and I found myself wanting to know more about all the different new words that I was opened up to.[/text_output][image type=”none” float=”none” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” src=”5997″ title=”SEO Meeting”][text_output]I was initially set the task of researching different wedding blogs, which was closely followed by travel blogs. This was to find out where different companies that the team were currently working on, were able to market their upcoming and current products/services. Blogs were not something I have had a lot of experience with, therefore I found this enjoyable. I looked at how successful some are and how interesting and useful they are to companies. After being tasked with a couple of other jobs on my first day, I knew that this was going to be an educational experience.

I was lucky enough that on my first day it happened to be the fortnightly ‘Lunch and Learn’, which was a completely new concept to me, but a brilliant one. This gave me an opportunity to meet the rest of the team as we all gathered for lunch together and were taught and quizzed by Greg about all the different Google updates, which I was previously unaware of. The atmosphere in the office was so relaxed and whilst everyone has a laugh and joke, they all work so unbelievably hard and achieve huge amounts, which is clearly reflected by their growing success.

Since then I have delved into many different researching activities, helped create links between clients, gained an understanding of the different clients they work with, sat in on an advanced BrightEdge training session, which really gave me an idea of how complicated the analytics side of SEO is, and many other tasks. The jobs that I was given wereSEO particularly rewarding as it is something that I have never done before. For example, I was tasked to do some on-page SEO by inserting SEO titles and Meta descriptions to the Noble Caledonia website, which is just one of the things I have learnt this week. This was rewarding for me as I was able to see the work that I had done appear on the website for everyone to see. I constantly found myself wanting to do more and learn more, which everyone was so supportive of.

Over the past 7 days I have learnt so much about blogging, researching, on-page SEO, how websites are
monitored, the work behind social media campaigns, BrightEdge and so much more. Being able to delve into a range of jobs has meant that I have been able to learn and take so much from this week. The team are all so welcoming and helpful and I was even taken out for lunch on my last day by Iain, Sophie and Greg for amazing burgers!

Seven days later, I am still amazed by how talented and invested the whole team are. Everyone was so keen to help me learn as much as I could over my time here and all the tasks I was set were to do with something that interests me, making it very enjoyable. My experience here has really opened me up to the world of work and if I am lucky enough in the future to be surrounded by a team as motivated as that, then I’d definitely enjoy going to work every day.[/text_output][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][visibility type=”hidden-desktop”][gap size=”20px”][/visibility][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”ups-sidebar-2″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
